Coker University Partners with Rize to Offer New Academic Programs

Coker University excitedly announces two new academic offerings that students can start

studying in Fall 2022. These new programs are available to Coker students through a strategic

partnership with Rize Education, which provides access to cutting-edge curricula so Coker

students can prepare for successful careers in high-growth and high-paying fields upon

graduation.

The School of Business adds an Actuarial Science concentration to its Business Administration

major. Students seeking a concentration in Actuarial Science will take courses in finance,

mathematics, statistics, data science, and programming as well as be prepared to take two

Society of Actuaries exams to be highly sought-after actuaries. The average starting salary for

Actuaries in South Carolina is $89.6K with job opportunities growing faster than the national

average.

Alongside the new nursing program, Coker is excited to further expand its healthcare offerings

by adding a degree in Public Health. Students interested in improving standards of living,

affecting healthcare policy or preventing the spread of epidemic diseases can major or minor in

Public Health. Further, graduates can be excited about the $60K median salary in South

Carolina or the opportunity to pursue graduate studies in Public Health, Epidemiology, or

healthcare-adjacent fields.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to collaborate with students in real tangible ways,” shared Dr. Susan Henderson, Provost, “I’m excited about the possibilities, and what programs our deans and faculty are looking forward to in the fall”.
