Pathway Improvements Underway | Hilton Head Island

Pathway Improvements Underway | Hilton Head Island

The Town of Hilton Head Island is currently working on safety and landscape improvements to the pedestrian and bicycle pathways at the intersection of Palmetto Bay and Arrow roads, adjacent to Crossings Park at 4 Haig Point Circle.

The improvements include widening the pathway, expanding the landing area for pedestrians and bicyclists, adding new benches and low-level lighting, and landscaping the area. They are part of the Town’s corridors project, which includes maintenance and improvements to existing roadways and pathways around the Island. The improvements are aimed at making pathway signs, landings, crosswalks, and pavement markings uniform, and ensuring they comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Construction activity began in December 2022 and will continue through the end of March. Please use caution when traveling in the area, particularly on the pathways along Palmetto Bay and Arrow roads. Workers and heavy equipment will be in the area.

You can follow the progress of this project by visiting the Capital Improvement Program dashboard at hiltonheadislandsc.gov.  For more information, please contact Karla Vincent, Project Manager, at 843-341-4779 or KarlaV@hiltonheadislandsc.gov.
