Congressman Russell Fry, who represents South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues on his Twitter account between August 6 and August 7, 2025. His posts ranged from reactions to tragic events at Fort Stewart to commentary on immigration policy and recognition of Purple Heart Day.
On August 6, Fry responded to an incident at a military base by stating, “I’m deeply disturbed by the tragic events that occurred at Fort Stewart today. My prayers are with the victims, their families, and the first responders.”
Later that day, he commented on recent legislative developments related to border security: “The One Big Beautiful Bill is delivering real results—and law and order is back at the forefront. Our ICE agents finally have the support they need to do their jobs and put a stop to Biden’s open border disaster.”
On August 7, Fry marked Purple Heart Day with a message honoring military service members: “On Purple Heart Day, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or gave their lives in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom isn’t free—and we will never forget the price they paid.”
Fry has represented South Carolina’s 7th district since replacing Tom Rice in 2023. Before his election to Congress, he served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Surfside Beach in 1985 and currently residing in Murrells Inlet, Fry holds degrees from both the University of South Carolina (BA) and Charleston School of Law (JD).
