Congressman Russell Fry, who represents South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing public safety, federal policy, and communications infrastructure.
On August 13, 2025, Fry highlighted actions by the Department of Justice regarding sanctuary cities. He stated, “The DOJ just called out 35 sanctuary cities for putting American lives at risk. They protect criminals, not communities—and it must stop. It’s time to put safety and the rule of law first.”
Later that day, Fry referenced his alignment with former President Donald Trump in a brief message: “From the drive-thru to D.C., President Trump and I are working for you! “
On August 14, 2025, Fry commented on recent technological improvements in emergency response communications in Marion County. He wrote: “In an emergency, seconds count. With @FirstNet and @ATT’s 5G expansion in Marion County, our first responders will have faster, stronger, and more reliable communications—helping save lives and keep us safe. This is a big win for SC public safety. Let’s keep building on this”.
Fry has served as South Carolina’s representative since replacing Tom Rice in 2023. Prior to his congressional role, he was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Surfside Beach in 1985 and currently residing in Murrells Inlet at age 38, Fry holds degrees from the University of South Carolina (BA) and Charleston School of Law (JD).
