Congressman Russell Fry, who has represented South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently shared several statements on social media addressing national events and law enforcement. Fry, a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives and a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Charleston School of Law, commented on topics ranging from presidential security to federal clemency decisions.
On July 13, 2025, Fry reflected on the anniversary of an assassination attempt against President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. He stated: “One year ago today, our nation watched as President Trump survived an assassination attempt in Butler, PA. We thank God for his protection and are grateful to the brave law enforcement officers and Secret Service agents who put their lives on the line. Today, we stand united”.
The following day, July 14, 2025, Fry criticized President Biden’s use of an autopen to sign multiple clemencies. He wrote: “Biden is now defending using an autopen to stamp thousands of clemencies. It’s a disgrace. These mass decisions raise serious concerns and must be reconsidered.”
Later that same day, Fry expressed appreciation for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. In his post he said: “Thank you to the ICE officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect fellow Americans. Your work is critical, and our country is safer because of you.”
Russell Fry was born in Surfside Beach, South Carolina in 1985 and currently resides in Murrells Inlet. His career includes service in both state and federal legislatures.
