Congressman Russell Fry, who has represented South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, shared a series of posts on July 15, 2025, regarding legislative developments and national policy. Fry, who succeeded Tom Rice and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022, highlighted congressional activity related to college sports as well as federal border security initiatives.
In a post dated July 15, 2025, Fry announced that the House Committee on Energy and Commerce was marking up the SCORE Act. He stated: “Today, the @HouseCommerce is marking up the SCORE Act. If you care about the future of college sports, you’ll want to see this.” He also provided a link for viewers to watch the proceedings live.
Later that day, Fry elaborated on the contents of the SCORE Act. In his words: “What is the SCORE Act? It’s a bipartisan bill that protects student athletes, preserves college sports, and brings order to a chaotic system of NIL rules. It ensures student-athletes remain students, not employees—and safeguards the future of college sports.”
In another post on July 15, Fry commented on former President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda. He wrote: “President Trump is delivering results. The One Big Beautiful Bill stops cartels, secures the border, and restores law and order across America.”
Russell Fry was born in Surfside Beach, South Carolina in 1985 and currently resides in Murrells Inlet. He holds a BA from the University of South Carolina (2007) and a JD from Charleston School of Law (2011).
