James E. Clyburn, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 6th district since 1993, posted a series of statements on his social media account in September 2025 addressing issues ranging from personal greetings to political violence and school shootings.

On September 9, Clyburn shared a birthday message quoting the former president: “Happy Birthday—and may every day be another wonderful secret.” – Donald J. Trump.

The following day, he addressed recent acts of political violence with a strong condemnation. On September 10, he wrote: “This is an unspeakable horror. Any act of political violence is unacceptable, has no place anywhere, and must always be condemned.”

Later that same day, Clyburn commented on a shooting at a high school in Colorado that left several students in critical condition. He stated: “Another shooting at a high school, this time in Colorado. Several students are in critical condition. When are we going to say enough is enough?”

Jim Clyburn was born in Sumter, South Carolina in 1940 and currently resides in Columbia. He graduated from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962 and succeeded Robin Tallon as representative for South Carolina’s 6th district.
