In his first post, Clyburn commented on the political debate over responsibility for the shutdown: “Republicans have been bending over backwards claiming Democrats are to blame for this shutdown. Jim Clyburn has served as a representative from South Carolina’s 6th District since succeeding Robin Tallon in 1993. Born in Sumter, South Carolina in 1940 and currently residing in Columbia, Clyburn graduated from South Carolina State University with a BA in 1962.
