James E. Clyburn, U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 6th district since 1993, addressed a range of issues in recent social media posts, including Labor Day recognition and calls for the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
On September 1, 2025, Clyburn posted a message marking the national holiday: “Happy Labor Day! America’s workers have always been the backbone of our economy. Today we thank you for your dedication and reaffirm our belief that prosperity must rise from the bottom up—not trickle from the top down.”
Two days later, on September 3, Clyburn called for transparency regarding investigations into Jeffrey Epstein: “These brave survivors of Epstein and his associates’ heinous crimes deserve justice. The Trump Administration must release the Epstein files to the American people now.”
Later that same day, he commented on reported opposition within Republican circles to releasing these documents: “Trump’s White House is lobbying Republicans to oppose the release of the full Epstein files. They’re calling the effort a “hostile act” to Trump’s administration. Sorry, Mr. Trump, but seeking justice for the victims of childhood sexual abuse is not a “hostile act.”
Jim Clyburn has served in Congress since replacing Robin Tallon in 1993 and is one of South Carolina’s longest-serving representatives. Born in Sumter in 1940 and currently residing in Columbia, Clyburn graduated from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962.
