Congressman Russell Fry, who represents South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing border security, free speech, and an upcoming event for students.
On September 5, 2025, Fry commented on immigration policy under former President Donald Trump: “Illegal immigrants are getting the message. With @realDonaldTrump in charge, our borders are secure and our country is safe.”
Later that day, he addressed concerns about international influence on American expression: “Foreign regulations shouldn’t silence American voices. Free speech is a core American value, and @JudiciaryGOP is making sure it’s protected—not just here at home, but abroad too. “
On September 6, 2025, Fry announced an outreach event for local youth: “My 2025 Service Academy Day is coming up on September 20th at Francis Marion University in Florence! High school students will have the opportunity to meet academy representatives, learn about ROTC programs, & explore what it takes to serve our country. I hope to see you there!”
Fry has served as the U.S. Representative for South Carolina’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Tom Rice. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Surfside Beach in 1985 and currently residing in Murrells Inlet, Fry graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA in 2007 and earned his JD from Charleston School of Law in 2011.
