Congressman Russell Fry, who represents South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a series of issues on his social media account between July 19 and July 20, 2025.
On July 19, Fry commented on a recent fatal incident in Pageland, South Carolina. He stated, “A 17-year-old lost their life in Pageland, SC last night. This kind of violence is devastating—and it’s unacceptable. We must hold violent criminals accountable and ensure our streets are safe. My prayers are with the victim’s family.”
Later that day, Fry discussed federal spending priorities and criticized what he described as unnecessary expenditures. He wrote on July 19: “Americans shouldn’t be forced to fund foreign pet projects and liberal media. The days of reckless spending are over—we’re cutting $9 BILLION in waste. Promise made. Promise kept.”
On July 20, Fry highlighted provisions from President Biden’s legislative agenda that he said would benefit South Carolina residents. In his post he listed several outcomes: “.@POTUS’ One Big Beautiful Bill delivers for South Carolina: 97,000 jobs protected Up to $9,800 more in take-home pay 1M seniors shielded from Social Security taxes Overtime pay = tax-free for 1 in 4 workers Real relief for 74,000 small businesses”.
Fry has represented South Carolina’s 7th congressional district since replacing Tom Rice in 2023 and previously served in the state House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Surfside Beach in 1985 and currently residing in Murrells Inlet, Fry holds degrees from the University of South Carolina and Charleston School of Law.
