Congressman Russell Fry, who represents South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing issues of public safety and family policy.
On August 23, 2025, Fry commented on an incident involving violence in Charleston: “This didn’t just happen by accident—this is what Biden’s border crisis has done. A biotech CEO was assaulted in downtown Charleston by an illegal immigrant using Uber with a fake license. South Carolinians deserve security and peace of mind, not the chaos Biden created.”
Two days later, on August 25, Fry highlighted legislative efforts to support families through financial measures: “The One Big Beautiful Bill is a win for families—expanding 529 savings plans and kickstarting newborn investment accounts with $1,000. Stronger families. Stronger future.”
Later that same day, Fry praised federal leadership for improving safety in Washington D.C.: “Safety comes first. Under President Trump’s leadership and the dedication of law enforcement, DC is seeing real results. Thank you @POTUS for taking action to keep Americans safe in our nation’s capital.”
Fry has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after succeeding Tom Rice. He previously represented his community in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Surfside Beach in 1985, Fry resides in Murrells Inlet and holds degrees from the University of South Carolina and Charleston School of Law.
