Congressman Russell Fry, who represents South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing recent events and commemorations.
On September 10, 2025, Fry expressed sorrow regarding the death of Charlie Kirk. He wrote: “I am devastated by the murder of Charlie Kirk. A man of faith, a devoted family man, and a leader who never wavered in his convictions.
Political violence must never be tolerated in America. My prayers are with his family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time.”
The following day, September 11, 2025, Fry marked the anniversary of the September 11 attacks with another statement: “We will never forget the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
Today, we pay tribute to the victims, salute the heroes, and reflect on the strength and unity that carried our nation through.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.”
Later on September 11, Fry announced support for legislation honoring Charlie Kirk: “Charlie Kirk’s legacy deserves to be honored.
That’s why I’m joining @RepOgles on legislation to award him the Congressional Gold Medal. Charlie stood for faith, free speech, and American values—we will never stop defending them.”
Fry has served as a member of Congress since replacing Tom Rice in 2023. Before joining Congress, he was part of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Surfside Beach in 1985 and currently residing in Murrells Inlet at age 38, Fry graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree before earning his law degree from Charleston School of Law in 2011.
