Congressman Russell Fry, who represents South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing healthcare spending, the ongoing government shutdown, and tax relief for working families.
On October 3, 2025, Fry criticized Democratic lawmakers over proposed healthcare spending. He wrote, “Democrats want to spend nearly $200 BILLION on healthcare for illegal immigrants. That’s not a priority—it’s insanity.”
Later that day, Fry commented on the financial impact of the government shutdown on his home state. In an October 3 post, he stated, “Every week the Schumer Shutdown drags on, South Carolina loses $188 MILLION. It’s not just numbers—it’s jobs, paychecks, and families. It’s time for @SenateDems to do their job.”
In another post from October 3, Fry discussed his participation in a business roundtable focused on tax policy. He said, “Yesterday I had the privilege of joining the @USChamber, local chambers & business leaders to discuss the Working Families Tax Cut. This law locks in the tax relief that’s fueling growth & ensures small businesses can keep investing in their communities. Thank you for having [me].”
Fry has represented South Carolina’s 7th District since replacing Tom Rice in 2023 and previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Surfside Beach in 1985 and currently residing in Murrells Inlet, Fry holds degrees from both the University of South Carolina and Charleston School of Law.
