Congressman Russell Fry, who represents South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets between July 22 and July 23, 2025, highlighting legislative initiatives and local culture.
On July 22, Fry addressed the death of Kayla Hamilton, stating, “Kayla Hamilton died because the system failed her. Her mother’s testimony reveals the danger of what happens when our government doesn’t vet harmful individuals. That’s why I introduced the Kayla Hamilton Act to require background checks on all unaccompanied alien children.”
The following day, Fry discussed water regulation policies with a reference to presidential action: “.@POTUS fixed it, and now we’re making sure it stays that way. I introduced the SHOWER Act to restore full water pressure, protect consumer choice, and stop the overregulation—ensuring no future administration can mess with your water pressure again.”
Later on July 23, Fry shared a message about regional pride: “A little taste of home in Washington Happy Peach week from Myrtle Peach!”
Fry has represented South Carolina’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Tom Rice. Before his congressional tenure, he served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Surfside Beach in 1985 and currently residing in Murrells Inlet, Fry holds a BA from the University of South Carolina and a JD from Charleston School of Law.
