Congressman Russell Fry, who represents South Carolina’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on social media regarding local weather conditions and recent legislative efforts.

On February 1, 2026, Fry alerted constituents to energy conservation measures during extreme cold. He stated, “With dangerously cold temperatures, Duke Energy is asking customers to reduce energy use Monday from 4–10 a.m. These steps help reduce demand and lower the risk of outages. Please take this seriously and plan ahead.”

Later that day, Fry commented on unusual weather in the region. He wrote on February 1, 2026: “Snow in South Carolina doesn’t happen often! Let’s see your photos in the comments—and remember to take it slow and stay safe.”

The following day, Fry addressed economic policy differences between political parties. On February 2, 2026, he posted: “While Democrats raise taxes in blue states, Republicans are cutting them. The Working Families Tax Cut delivers no tax on tips, overtime, or Social Security for 88% of seniors. @HouseGOP is putting money back in your pocket.”

Fry has served as the U.S. Representative for South Carolina’s 7th district since 2023 after succeeding Tom Rice. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he represented his community in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Surfside Beach in 1985 and currently residing in Murrells Inlet at age 38, Fry holds degrees from the University of South Carolina and Charleston School of Law.
