Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce: One Church Hartsville - Three Reasons Your Teenagers Need Church 2/23/2022

17

Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement.

Three Reasons Your Teenagers Needs Church:

1. Break the Isolation/Depression Spiral

The more isolated we are, the more vulnerable we are to depression and other negative states of mental health.  Then, when we struggle with depression, the more likely we are to isolate ourselves and the cycle goes on from there.

Being a part of a weekly student Bible study group or attending a Sunday morning worship service are two simple powerful ways to break the isolation cycle.

2. Teenagers Need Something to Fight Against Fear/Anxiety

Anxiety can be crippling.  Middle and high school students have always struggled with the fear of changing from children to adults and all the complex decisions that go along with that, but it seems like the anxiety level among our students is at an all time high.

The "Get Over It" strategies of the past are not working.

What they need is something to trust in that is bigger than what they fear.

Finding ways to connect them to the Good News of Jesus is a great way of helping them latch onto something that will take them through life's greatest challenges.  They need the gospel, not only to save their souls, but to save them from fear itself.

3. They Don't Have to Make the Same Mistakes We Made

Connecting to a church community and the encouragement, teaching, and positive relationships that go along with that can help our students avoid the major regrets that come with decisions about relationships, sex, and substance abuse.

The Jesus message not only helps us get over fear and isolation, it helps us avoid the self-inflicted wounds that so often happen in late teenage/early adult year.

Connecting to church can help the next generation live life with fewer regrets!

Want to Help Your Teenager Connect with a Church Community?

Student Group - Wednesday Nights at 7pm at the Nook (130 W. Carolina Ave.).  Our students make new friends, learn about Jesus and how they can apply his teachings to their lives, and talk in small groups about how it applies to what they are going through.

Sunday Morning Services - 10:30am @ YMCA

Our vision is to create a place that teenagers will love to come on Sunday morning so they can hear about Jesus, be changed by the Good News, and then go change our community!

One of the greatest decisions you can make for your teenager is to make church a priority in your families' life!
