McLeod Health welcomes Maria Baens, MD, and W. Nathaniel Gasque, MD, to the medical staff.
Dr. Baens joins Dr. Thomas Rives, Susan Murphy, FNP, and Amy Klimek, DNP, in serving patients at McLeod Primary Care Little River. Prior to joining McLeod Health, Dr. Baens provided care at Doctors Care in Myrtle Beach and Carolina Health Specialists in Little River. “I come from a family of physicians, and I learned early how impactful a provider can be to their patient,” said Dr. Baens. “It brings me joy helping my patients thrive in their health journey.” Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Baens received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, in 1989. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency training with the University of South Carolina/Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital and Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia in 1992. Dr. Gasque joins McLeod Orthopaedics Seacoast from Woodward Medical Center in Greenville, SC, where he served as the Director of Sports Medicine for Bon Secours. Dr. Gasque, along with his partners Dr. Eric Heimberger, Dr. Christopher Walsh, Dr. David Lukowski, Dr. Jeremy McCallum, Dr. Adam Mandel, Dr. Colin Canham, and Dr. Christopher Stanley provide an extensive range of orthopedic services using the latest advancements in minimally invasive techniques and surgical procedures. A native of Florence, SC, Dr. Gasque received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville in 2017. He completed his Family Medicine Residency training at AnMed Health in Anderson, SC, in 2020, followed by a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Anmed in 2021.
