On January 22, 2025, Clyburn expressed concerns about former President Donald Trump's actions, referring to them as reminiscent of historical racial discrimination policies. He stated: "Trump is doing what he told us he would do in Project 2025. I said it before. I'll say it again. This is Jim Crow 2.0."

The following day, January 23, 2025, Clyburn reflected on the impact of the Supreme Court's decision regarding Roe v. Wade under Trump's administration: "52 years ago, Roe v. Wade affirmed abortion as a constitutional right. In 2022, Trump’s Supreme Court took that right away, and 36 million reproductive age women now live in states with abortion bans." He emphasized the Democratic Party's commitment to restoring these rights.

Later that same day, Clyburn highlighted his involvement in congressional proceedings: "Today the House Appropriations Committee gaveled in our first meeting of the 119th Congress! I'm honored to join my colleagues as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies." He expressed enthusiasm for making America’s greatness accessible.
