James E. Clyburn, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina’s 6th district, has been vocal on various issues through his social media presence. He has served in Congress since 1993 and continues to actively engage with the public on current affairs.
On February 11, 2025, Clyburn expressed concern over past efforts to dismantle USAID, an organization he credits with feeding starving children and combating global health issues such as malaria and HIV/AIDS. In his tweet, he stated: "USAID feeds starving children in extreme poverty around the world. Its health programs combat malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and infectious disease outbreaks. History will remember — Trump and Elon Musk wanted to dismantle USAID."
The following day, February 12, 2025, Clyburn commented on Elon Musk's influence and potential threat across digital platforms including X (formerly Twitter). He remarked: "The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, presents a very real danger to our country, across the internet, and right here on X. I'll still post here but follow me on @bluesky."
Later that same day, Clyburn criticized Republican proposals regarding Medicaid cuts for seniors while highlighting a government contract awarded to Elon Musk. His statement read: "Republicans want to cut Medicaid for seniors. All the while, Elon Musk just got a $38 million government contract. They have one agenda — stealing from the poor and giving to the rich."
