James E. Clyburn, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina’s 6th District since 1993, has recently articulated his concerns through a series of tweets. Born in 1940 in Sumter, South Carolina, and currently residing in Columbia, Clyburn has been vocal about political issues relevant to his constituency. The tweets reflect his views on the policies and actions of his political opponents, namely those of the Republican Party and former President Donald Trump.

On April 1, 2025, Clyburn expressed his frustration stating, "I took to the House floor last night because I'm sick and tired of Republicans doing nothing to lower costs. Then today they canceled work for the rest of the week. Republicans in DC don't even pretend to care about Americans trying to make ends meet."

In a follow-up tweet on April 2, 2025, he addressed legislative actions or the lack thereof by saying, "Republicans are busy passing bills that lower costs for Americans. April fools'!"

Later on the same day, Clyburn critiqued former President Donald Trump on his financial policies and their impact on American citizens when he posted, "Let’s be clear what Trump is saying here: Income taxes are disproportionately paid by the wealthy. Tariffs hit all Americans, disproportionately hurting working people. Trump wants everyday Americans to pay more and the wealthy to pay less."
