James E. Clyburn, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina's 6th district, has been vocal on various issues through his social media platform. In a series of tweets, he expressed concerns about the actions and proposals of former President Donald Trump shortly after taking office.

On February 4, 2025, Clyburn criticized Trump's early presidency focus. He stated that Trump was "launching pointless trade wars," giving "unelected billionaire Elon Musk unchecked access to Americans’ information," and "gutting the U.S. agency fighting global poverty." Clyburn remarked that these actions do not contribute to helping American families. The original tweet can be found here.

The following day, February 5, 2025, Clyburn highlighted historical educational inequalities in South Carolina. He reminded his audience that "Brown v. Board started in South Carolina" and mentioned the disparity in spending between white and Black students before integration. He noted that in 1950, Harry and Eliza Briggs sued Clarendon County for such disparities. The full tweet is available here.

Later on February 5, Clyburn addressed Trump's proposal regarding Gaza. He stated that Trump wanted "the U.S. to invade Gaza and permanently displace Palestinians," labeling it as an act of ethnic cleansing that undermines peace efforts and could entangle the U.S. in prolonged conflict in the Middle East once more. This tweet can be accessed here.
