James E. Clyburn criticizes Trump's cabinet and praises Althea Gibson's legacy

James E. Clyburn, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing South Carolina’s 6th district since 1993, has recently shared his views on several pressing issues through social media posts. On February 6, 2025, Clyburn expressed concerns about the composition of former President Donald Trump's cabinet and the perceived abdication of power by Congressional Republicans.

In a tweet dated February 6, 2025, Clyburn stated: "Trump has stacked his cabinet with loyalist who are completely unqualified to run the government. This is what happens when Congressional Republicans completely abdicate their power by encouraging everything Trump is doing."

Later that day, Clyburn addressed legal actions involving Elon Musk and Donald Trump. He noted in a tweet: "We know Musk and Trump are operating in complete lawlessness. Federal court judges have now had to BLOCK: - Musk accessing your SSN - Trump freezing federal aid that feeds children - Trump pressuring federal workers to leave their jobs - Trump ending birthright citizenship."

In another post on February 6, 2025, Clyburn paid tribute to Althea Gibson's historic achievement in tennis: "With her 1956 French Open win, Althea Gibson, native of Clarendon County, SC, became the first African American to win a grand slam. As one of the first Black athletes to cross the color line of international tennis, Gibson paved the way for the likes of the Williams sisters,…"
